EVALUATING FIRST CHILDHOOD ATTACHMENT USING STRANGE SITUATION PROCEDURE

With appropriate observational procedures it is possible to evaluate the type of attachment that the child develops since fist childhood. It is also possible to detect the principal child’s emotion regulation strategies and the presence of traumata, experienced directly or as a generational transmission. The course has the aim to present the observation procedure of the Strange Situation to evaluate fist childhood attachment. More specifically, appropriate setting conduction strategies will be explained. Moreover, the guidelines for coding and clinical examples will be provided to clarify the instrument link with attachment and to explain high risk and low risk generational transmission in the family.

The course is addressed to students and professionals operating with family service, minors’ legal protection, family mediation, adoption. Professionals operating in mother-child field will find a useful instrument to analyze parent-child relationship’s quality in the first two years of life.
